**Port Louis, Mauritius** – Dr. Guduru Jagadish, a renowned orthopaedic surgeon and former director of Tirupati’s Balaji Institute of Surgery, Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled (BIRRD), received the prestigious “Vishva Vaidya Divyang Bandhu” award in Mauritius. The award, presented by Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, recognizes Dr. Jagadish’s significant contributions to the welfare of the differently-abled.
The ceremony, held during a Ugadi celebration organized by the Mauritius Telugu Maha Sabha, highlighted Dr. Jagadish’s extensive work. As director of the BIRRD Trust Hospital, he spearheaded free polio surgical and screening camps across India. His commitment to global health is evident in his conducting academic programs and free medical camps across numerous countries, including the U.S., Germany, the U.K., Italy, France, Nigeria, Kenya, Oman, and Switzerland. Prime Minister Ramgoolam has reportedly requested Dr. Jagadish to extend his humanitarian efforts to Mauritius as well.
