**Kozhikode, April 4, 2025** – Prominent Kerala businessman and film producer Gokulam Gopalan was questioned by Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers today at his Kozhikode office. The questioning is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged foreign exchange violations.
Prior to the interrogation, ED officials conducted extensive searches at Gopalan’s Vadakara residence and various Gokulam Group offices in Kozhikode. Financial institutions associated with the group were also inspected. Similar searches were also carried out at Gokulam Group’s financial institutions in Tamil Nadu, resulting in the recovery of several financial documents.
Sources within the ED confirmed that the investigation is focused on a large, suspicious fund transfer to the Gokulam Group. The origin of the funds and their intended use are currently under scrutiny. The ED clarified that this investigation is unrelated to recent controversies surrounding the Malayalam film “L2: Empuraan.” This is not the first time the Gokulam Group has faced scrutiny regarding suspected foreign exchange violations; previous inspections have been conducted based on earlier complaints. The recovered documents will be further examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
