Thu Apr 03 14:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Oracle Inks Multi-Billion Dollar Deal with AMD for 30,000 GPUs

**London, UK –** Oracle has signed a multi-billion dollar agreement with AMD to purchase 30,000 of its high-performance MI355X GPUs, the company revealed during its recent earnings call. The deal, confirmed by Oracle CTO Larry Ellison, will see the delivery of the powerful GPUs, built using TSMC’s 3nm node and AMD’s CDNA 4 architecture, by mid-2025.

Each MI355X GPU boasts 288GB of HBM3E memory and a bandwidth of up to 8Tbps, making them a strong competitor to Nvidia’s B100 and B200 offerings. Their high power consumption (1,100W TDP) necessitates liquid cooling. The exact location of the resulting cluster remains undisclosed.

This significant AMD contract follows Oracle’s deployment of 64,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs for OpenAI at a Texas data center. While Oracle expects to finalize contracts soon for its Stargate project with OpenAI, the AMD deal represents a substantial commitment to AMD’s technology, building on Oracle’s prior use of AMD Instinct MI300X GPUs in its OCI Compute Supercluster. Further inquiries regarding the deal’s potential connection to the Stargate project have been directed to Oracle.
