**New Delhi, [Date]** – The Union Minority Affairs Minister, Kiren Rijiju, today introduced the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, in the Lok Sabha. The bill, a product of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) report, aims to modernize the administration of Waqf properties, improve transparency, and leverage technology for efficient management.

Minister Rijiju highlighted the unprecedented scale of public consultation undertaken by the JPC, claiming it to be the largest ever parliamentary consultation in India’s history. The JPC reportedly received over 97.27 lakh petitions and memorandums through both physical and online channels, each of which was reviewed before the final report was compiled. Furthermore, the JPC engaged with 284 delegations, including representatives from 25 state and Union Territory Waqf boards, legal experts, charitable organizations, academics, and religious leaders. The bill now awaits consideration and passage by the Lok Sabha.
