**SAN DIEGO, CA** – The San Diego Padres made history Tuesday night, defeating the Cleveland Guardians 7-0 to achieve a 6-0 start to their season – a franchise best in their 57-year history. The previous best start was 4-0 in 1984.
Power pitching spearheaded the victory. Michael King, rebounding from a rough opening day, struck out 11 batters in five dominant innings, allowing only two hits and a walk. He was effectively backed by four relievers, who combined to toss a two-hit shutout. Lefty Omar Cruz made a memorable major league debut, pitching a perfect ninth inning.
