Wed Apr 02 13:03:08 UTC 2025: ## 73-Year-Old Indian Man Sentenced for Molesting Four Flight Attendants
**Singapore, April 2, 2025** – A 73-year-old Indian national, Balasubramanian Ramesh, has been sentenced to nine months in prison for molesting four female cabin crew members on a Singapore Airlines flight. The incident occurred during a 14-hour flight from San Francisco to Singapore on November 18, 2024.
Ramesh, a former bank manager in India, pleaded guilty to four counts of molestation. Three additional charges relating to one victim were considered during sentencing. While the prosecution sought a sentence of up to 18 months, citing the multiple victims, the defense argued for a shorter sentence, emphasizing the lack of skin-to-skin contact. Due to his age (over 50), Ramesh was ineligible for caning, a possible punishment under Singaporean law for such offenses.
The molestation was reported by a flight supervisor upon the plane’s arrival in Singapore. Police arrested Ramesh later that day, and he was subsequently charged. The judge ultimately sentenced Ramesh to nine months imprisonment.
