Wed Apr 02 07:35:26 UTC 2025: ## CPI(M) Leader Karat Launches Attack on Hindutva at Party Congress
**Madurai, Tamil Nadu, April 2, 2025** – Senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Prakash Karat opened the party’s 24th congress in Madurai today with a strong denunciation of Hindutva, labeling it “neo-fascism.” He asserted that only the Left possesses the resolve and capability to combat this ideology and the imperialist designs he alleges are being pursued against India.
Karat, while advocating for broader alliances of secular forces against the BJP, emphasized the CPI(M)’s unique role as a consistent and uncompromising opponent of Hindutva and communalism. He accused the BJP-RSS of manipulating sub-caste identities to maintain the existing caste system and subtly promoting “manuvadi” values within society. He further framed the fight against this system, which he says attacks the rights of women, Dalits, and Adivasis, as integral to the larger struggle against Hindutva.
The former general secretary outlined the need for a multifaceted struggle against the BJP-RSS and called for increased politicization of the masses through vigorous campaigning against Hindutva. He also warned of potential future US imperialist aggressions under President Trump and urged the CPI(M) to actively develop anti-imperialist struggles while exposing the alleged pro-imperialist policies of the Modi government.
Karat concluded by highlighting the congress’s focus on strengthening the CPI(M)’s independent power base through planned local struggles and grassroots party building. The congress is scheduled to run until April 6th.
