Wed Apr 02 10:00:00 UTC 2025: ## West Michigan Recovers from Weekend Storms, Braces for More Severe Weather

**GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD)** – West Michigan is still reeling from Sunday’s severe storms, which caused widespread power outages and flooding, and is now bracing for another round of potentially severe weather Wednesday evening.

Thousands remain without power across the region, with Consumers Energy estimating full restoration for some areas by 8:45 a.m. on April 2nd. Residents are reporting challenges in the aftermath, with one Ada Township resident noting their power was only restored Tuesday evening after being out since Sunday. Lingering street flooding, particularly in East Grand Rapids, continues to disrupt traffic and pedestrian access.

The National Weather Service confirmed additional tornadoes from Sunday’s storms, bringing the state’s total to nine. The damage has kept tree removal services like Larry’s Tree Service extremely busy, with crews working overtime to clear debris, including a large tree that fell onto a boathouse on the Thornapple River. The owner expressed concern about keeping up with the demand, particularly as another severe weather system approaches.

Residents are expressing apprehension about the impending storm, fearing further damage and power outages. The possibility of severe storms and freezing rain has prompted warnings from weather officials, urging residents to prepare for potential disruptions.
