Wed Apr 02 07:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Congress MP Imran Masood Condemns Non-Muslim Inclusion in Wakf Board

**Saharanpur, India** – Congress MP Imran Masood has vehemently opposed the inclusion of non-Muslim members in the proposed Central Wakf Council, a key provision in the amended Wakf Bill. Speaking to reporters, Masood, who represents Saharanpur, questioned the government’s motives, stating that the inclusion of non-Muslim members is an attempt to undermine the Wakf Board.

The Wakf (Amendment) Bill, introduced in the Lok Sabha by Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, aims to streamline the administration of Wakf properties and prevent fraudulent claims. Rijiju clarified that the Central Wakf Council will have 22 members, including 10 Muslims and a maximum of four non-Muslim members (two of whom will be women). He emphasized that the bill does not interfere with Muslim religious matters and is necessary to address existing issues, citing pending claims on significant properties such as the Parliament building and Delhi airport.

Masood, however, expressed strong disapproval, asserting that the inclusion of non-Muslim members is a hostile act and challenged the government’s justification. He stated that the Wakf Board’s earnings support orphans and the poor and questioned the capacity of non-Muslim members to understand or manage Wakf affairs.

In a dramatic statement, Masood declared himself a descendant of Lord Ram and ironically demanded inclusion in the Ram Mandir Trust, further emphasizing his belief that the government’s actions are targeted against the Muslim community. He also warned other political parties, specifically mentioning Chandrababu Naidu, Nitish Kumar, Chirag Paswan, and Jayant Chaudhary, that failure to support the Muslim community on this issue would have consequences. He stressed that this is a critical issue for the Muslim community, surpassing all others in importance.
