**Shivamogga, April 1, 2025** – A young woman, identified as Prabhavathi, was found dead in Angadihalli, Belur taluk, Hassan district on Sunday. Police are investigating her death, with allegations of domestic abuse surfacing.
Prabhavathi, who married Chris (alias Shanki) three months ago, had eloped with him after facing opposition from her family. The couple returned to their village two months ago and lived separately.
According to Prabhavathi’s sister, Shruthi, the marriage was troubled by Chris’s alleged harassment of Prabhavathi. Shruthi claims Prabhavathi took her own life due to this abuse. A case has been registered by the Halebidu police based on Shruthi’s statement.
Authorities are urging those struggling with suicidal thoughts to contact the State’s helpline (104) or the toll-free number (14416) for counseling.
