Tue Apr 01 09:34:03 UTC 2025: ## BJP Fights Telangana Govt Over Planned Auction of 400 Acres Near Hyderabad

**HYDERABAD, April 1, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is vehemently opposing the Telangana government’s plan to auction 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The party claims the land is ecologically sensitive and vital to the University of Hyderabad (UoH).

BJP leaders escalated their protest to the national level on Tuesday. A delegation of Telangana MPs, led by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, met with Union Human Resource Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, urging central government intervention to halt the auction. The MPs argued that the auction would lead to the destruction of flora and fauna. Simultaneously, BJP MLA K. Laxman raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha, demanding the land’s preservation and accusing the state government of land grabbing.

Meanwhile, in Hyderabad, police prevented BJP MLAs A. Maheshwar Reddy and Payal Shankar from visiting the land and meeting protesting students. The MLAs condemned the police action and called for an all-party fact-finding committee. They urged potential investors to boycott the auction and accused both the Congress government and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of repressive measures. The BJP alleges that significant portions of land allocated to UoH have already been appropriated for other purposes. Despite winning a Supreme Court case related to the land, the BJP maintains that this does not justify the auction.
