**HYDERABAD, April 1, 2025** – Two individuals, identified as former students B. Rohit Kumar and Erram Naveen Kumar, have been arrested following a riot and assault on public servants during a protest in Kancha Gachibowli on Sunday. The protest targeted development work being carried out by the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) at Survey No. 25, authorized by a government order.
According to police, a group of protestors, including former university students, attempted to halt the construction work around 3:30 p.m. The situation escalated when the group allegedly attacked officials and workers with stones and sticks, resulting in serious injuries to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Madhapur Division, who suffered injuries to his right knee and ankle.
Police have denied allegations of a lathi charge or forced removal of students from their hostels. Authorities are urging students to refrain from spreading misinformation and to pursue grievances through official channels, warning that any further disruption of law and order will be met with legal action. The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody.
