Tue Apr 01 10:31:41 UTC 2025: ## SBI Customers Face Second Mobile Banking Outage This Month

**Mumbai, April 1, 2025** – State Bank of India (SBI) customers experienced widespread disruptions to their internet and mobile banking services today, marking the second such outage this month. The glitch, which affected users nationwide, primarily impacted mobile banking (64%) and fund transfers (33%), according to data from Downdetector. The peak disruption occurred between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM IST.

Frustrated customers took to social media to report failed transactions and inability to access their accounts. While the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) attributed some banking transaction issues to the end of the financial year, stating the UPI system itself remained functional, SBI’s problems appear to be distinct.

This follows a similar outage on March 11th, which lasted over four hours and also affected UPI and mobile banking services. Although SBI stated that technical issues with its UPI application were resolved by 5 PM that day, the cause of both outages remains unclear.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has previously emphasized the need for banks to ensure seamless connectivity and invest in robust backend infrastructure to prevent such disruptions. The central bank has warned of strict action against banks failing to comply with these requirements. SBI, serving a massive 50 crore customers, has yet to provide a definitive explanation for today’s outage.
