Mon Mar 31 22:56:19 UTC 2025: ## Gaza Conflict: Over 300 Children Dead, UNICEF Demands End to Violence

**GAZA CITY** – At least 322 children have been killed and 609 wounded in the past 10 days of renewed Israeli military operations in Gaza, UNICEF reported Monday. The UN children’s agency stated that the escalating violence, which began on March 18th after a two-month ceasefire, has once again plunged vulnerable children into a cycle of death and deprivation.

The reported casualties include children killed and injured in the March 23rd attack on Al Nasser Hospital’s surgical department. Most affected children are displaced, seeking shelter in damaged homes and makeshift tents, leaving them extremely vulnerable.

UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell condemned the violence, stating that the renewed conflict has shattered the hope for recovery following the previous ceasefire. She emphasized that all parties must uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect children.

The grim statistics paint a broader picture of suffering. Since the start of the conflict nearly 18 months ago, over 15,000 children have reportedly been killed, more than 34,000 injured, and nearly one million displaced multiple times, denied access to essential services.

UNICEF is urgently calling for an immediate end to hostilities and for Israel to lift its ban on humanitarian aid entering Gaza, in place since March 2nd. The agency also demands the evacuation of sick and wounded children for essential medical care. With food, water, shelter, and medical supplies dwindling, UNICEF warns of a surge in preventable child deaths due to malnutrition and disease. The agency concluded with a plea to the international community to act and prevent further suffering.
