Tue Apr 01 06:10:00 UTC 2025: ## BRS Condemns Police Brutality Against UoH Students Protesting Land Auction
**Hyderabad, [Date]** – Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly condemned the Telangana police’s handling of student protests against the auctioning of a 400-acre land parcel near the University of Hyderabad (UoH). KTR accused the police of using excessive force, including allegedly dragging and assaulting female students, and arresting two students without revealing their current location.
Following a meeting with the protesting students at Telangana Bhavan, KTR criticized the police’s entry onto the university campus without the Vice-Chancellor’s permission. He demanded the immediate release of the arrested students and an explanation for their whereabouts.
The BRS leader accused the Congress-led state government of suppressing dissent and questioned the urgency of seizing the disputed land, particularly given a pending public interest litigation (PIL) in the High Court. He highlighted the government’s use of heavy machinery to clear trees from the site, expressing concern over environmental damage and the loss of vital green space in western Hyderabad.
KTR emphasized the students’ demand for an environmental impact assessment study and questioned the government’s disregard for the ecological consequences of its actions. He further called on all political parties, including the BJP, to publicly state their position on the issue.
The BRS has pledged its full support to the students, promising to raise the matter in Parliament and through public campaigns to hold the state government accountable. KTR’s statement follows mounting criticism of the government’s handling of the land dispute and the alleged police brutality against the protesting students.
