**New Delhi, March 31, 2025** – Sanoj Mishra, the director who gained notoriety for casting internet sensation Monalisa in his film during the Kumbh Mela, has been arrested in Delhi on charges of rape. The arrest follows the Delhi High Court’s rejection of his bail application.
Mishra, 45, was apprehended in Ghaziabad on March 30, 2024, after a police investigation involving technical surveillance. He is accused of repeatedly raping a 28-year-old aspiring actress over a four-year period, during which time she claims they were in a live-in relationship in Mumbai. The woman further alleges that Mishra forced her to undergo three abortions and broke a promise to marry her.
An FIR was filed on March 6, 2024, under various sections of the law, including rape, assault, causing miscarriage, and criminal intimidation. The victim’s statement under Section 164 of the CrPC, along with medical evidence obtained from Muzaffarnagar supporting her claims of abortion, formed a key part of the police investigation.
The incident that led to the complaint occurred on February 18, 2025, at Hotel Shiva in Nabi Karim, where Mishra allegedly had sexual relations with the woman before abandoning her. Mishra, who resides in Mumbai with his family, is currently in custody at the Nabi Karim Police Station.
