**Mangaluru, March 31, 2025** – The old Netravati Bridge on National Highway 66 in Mangaluru will be closed for a month starting April 1st for much-needed rehabilitation work, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced today. This closure will affect traffic flow from Talapady towards Mangaluru.
To mitigate traffic disruption, two-way traffic will be diverted to the new Netravati Bridge. However, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal warned of potential congestion, particularly between Thokkottu and Pumpwell, urging drivers to exercise caution and avoid peak hours if possible.
The NHAI detailed that the rehabilitation will include lifting and recalibrating bridge girders, repairing potholes, and applying an asphalt coating.
To further facilitate the traffic diversion, the highway median near Adam Kudru has been reopened. Alternative routes have also been suggested for motorists traveling from Mudipu, Konaje, and Deralakatte, and those heading towards Bengaluru, Uppinangady, Puttur, and Sullia. The Police Commissioner advised using the Konaje-Harekala-Adyar route and the Mudipu-Boliyar-Melkar route respectively.
