Mon Mar 31 06:56:37 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad Celebrates Id ul-Fitr Amidst Traffic Chaos

**Hyderabad, Telangana, March 31, 2025** – The city of Hyderabad celebrated Id ul-Fitr with traditional fervor on Monday, marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan. Thousands gathered at mosques across the city for prayers, greetings, and festive meals, enjoying the extended long weekend with family. However, the celebrations were marred by traffic disruptions at Masab Tank, where the lack of traditional traffic diversions near the hockey ground, a usual prayer site, caused significant congestion and inconvenience for both worshippers and commuters.

Unlike previous years, where police implemented traffic controls during prayer times, this year’s event saw vehicles allowed to move near the prayer area. This led to slow-moving traffic, delays for public transport, and disruptions to the prayers themselves.

Despite this setback, the festive spirit remained strong, with families across the city enjoying traditional meals, including the signature Id savory, sheer khurma. The celebration also highlighted the city’s cultural diversity, as exemplified by the story of Sarath, a resident who eagerly awaits Id each year to share in the culinary traditions of his Muslim neighbors.

Mohd. Abdullah, a home guard, spoke of the special joy of Id after a month of fasting, emphasizing the importance of family gatherings and shared meals.

The incident at Masab Tank serves as a reminder of the need for improved traffic management during major religious festivals to ensure a smooth and respectful experience for all.
