Mon Mar 31 06:38:02 UTC 2025: ## Bollywood Ram Visits Murder Accused in Jail

**Meerut, Uttar Pradesh:** Arun Govil, the actor renowned for his portrayal of Lord Ram in the iconic television series *Ramayan*, made an unexpected visit to Chaudhary Charan Singh District Jail on Sunday. The BJP MP for Meerut distributed 1,500 copies of the Ramayana as part of his “Ghar Ghar Ramayan” initiative, a nationwide campaign aiming to distribute 11 lakh copies of the Hindu epic.

While distributing the religious texts, Govil encountered Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, the two individuals accused of the brutal murder of Saurabh Rajput. Rajput’s body was found dismembered and sealed in a drum filled with wet cement. Rastogi, Rajput’s wife, and Shukla, her alleged lover, are currently in judicial custody since March 19th.

Jail officials reported that Rastogi and Shukla, who allegedly drugged, stabbed, and dismembered Rajput before going on vacation to Himachal Pradesh, are struggling to adjust to prison life, experiencing severe drug withdrawal symptoms. Govil confirmed that the pair appeared emotional after his visit, though he did not engage in conversation with any of the inmates.

Govil emphasized the importance of implementing the Ramayana’s teachings in daily life, stating that even a fraction of its moral lessons could foster societal positivity. The case has garnered significant attention, highlighting the contrasting elements of a religious initiative unfolding within the context of a gruesome murder investigation.
