**Hyderabad, India** – Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has issued a strong warning to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), threatening to relocate from their home stadium, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, for the 2025 season. The dispute centers around a disagreement over complimentary tickets allocated to the HCA.
In a letter to HCA treasurer CJ Srinivas Rao, SRH general manager Srinath TB accused HCA officials, particularly the president, of intimidation and blackmailing. He cited instances where HCA demanded an increased number of complimentary tickets, going so far as to lock a box at the stadium until their demands were met. SRH alleges that this is not an isolated incident, but part of a pattern of harassment over the past two seasons.
While the HCA has traditionally received 50 complimentary tickets in a specific box, they now claim a reduced capacity and demand an additional 20 tickets in a different location. Srinath’s letter emphasizes that SRH pays rent for the stadium and has jurisdiction during IPL matches, making the HCA’s actions unacceptable.
The letter stated, “All these unprofessional threats and actions…make it evident that you don’t want Sunrisers to play at your stadium. If that is the case, please let me know in writing so that we can inform BCCI, the Telangana government, and our management that you wish for us to move to another venue, and we will move.”
SRH has requested an urgent meeting with the HCA’s apex council to resolve the issue. If the conflict remains unresolved, the franchise may move their home games to a different city for the 2025 IPL season. The team has played two home matches in Hyderabad during the ongoing 2025 IPL season.
