Sun Mar 30 11:06:08 UTC 2025: ## RSF Leader Vows Return to Khartoum Despite Military Setback

**Khartoum, Sudan (March 30, 2025)** – The leader of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), has vowed to retake Khartoum after a significant military setback last week. Despite the Sudanese army’s successful pushback of RSF forces from most of the capital, Dagalo insists the war is far from over.

In an audio message released on Telegram, Dagalo confirmed the RSF’s withdrawal from Khartoum, describing it as a tactical repositioning to Omdurman. However, he pledged a stronger, more powerful return to the capital.

This declaration comes as the Sudanese army continues its offensive, recently securing a major market in Omdurman, Khartoum’s twin city. The army aims to fully control the greater Khartoum area, encompassing Khartoum, Omdurman, and Bahri. While the RSF retains some presence in Omdurman, the army’s control is significantly expanding.

The army’s resolve was further emphasized on Saturday by army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who ruled out any reconciliation with the RSF, vowing to crush the paramilitary force entirely.

The two-year-old conflict, stemming from a power struggle between the army and the RSF, has devastated Sudan. Over 12 million people have been displaced, and approximately half the population faces acute hunger. The death toll, while difficult to ascertain, is estimated to be significant, with one study reporting 61,000 deaths in Khartoum state alone during the conflict’s first 14 months.
