**Baltimore, MD** – The Baltimore Orioles announced today the acquisition of right-handed pitcher Cody Poteet from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for cash considerations. Poteet, 30, was designated for assignment by the Cubs earlier this week. He has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk.
The move adds depth to an Orioles pitching staff currently depleted by injuries to Grayson Rodriguez, Trevor Rogers, Chayce McDermott, Kyle Bradish, and Tyler Wells. Poteet, a former fourth-round pick by the Marlins, has a varied major league career, including stints as both a starter and reliever.
