Sat Mar 29 02:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Chaitra Amavasya and Shani’s Transit Coincide on March 29th

**New Delhi, March 28** – This Wednesday, March 29th, marks a significant day in the Hindu calendar, coinciding with Chaitra Amavasya and a rare celestial event: the transit of Saturn from Aquarius to Pisces. The day holds religious importance as it’s dedicated to offering Tarpan to ancestors, seeking their blessings.

Chaitra Amavasya, signifying the new moon in the first month of the Hindu calendar, Chaitra, begins on March 28th at 7:55 PM and ends on March 29th at 4:27 PM. Devotees will perform ancestral rites during this period.

Simultaneously, Saturn’s movement into Pisces will bring relief to Capricorns who were experiencing Sadhesati, while Leos and Sagittarians may face challenges due to Shani’s Dhaiyya. To mitigate any negative effects, astrologers suggest lighting a four-cornered diya at 8:18 PM, a time considered auspicious (8+1+8=17, 1+7=8).

While a solar eclipse will occur on Chaitra Amavasya, it will not be visible in India, rendering its Sutak period (inauspicious time) invalid within the country. The first month of the Hindu New Year, Chaitra, will also see the nine-day Navratri festival beginning on March 30th.
