**Kannur, March 29, 2025** – A joint investigation by Kerala and Karnataka police is underway following the discovery of 150 rounds of country-made ammunition abandoned on a bus travelling the Kannur-Virajpet route on Thursday. The ammunition was found during a routine vehicle check at the Kootupuzha excise check-post on the Kerala-Karnataka border.
Iritty police, aided by a dog squad, identified several passengers. While most were released after providing contact information, two suspects – one from Ulikkal and the other a Virajpet resident – are being questioned. Attempts to review CCTV footage from Virajpet bus stand and the bus’s internal surveillance system proved unsuccessful, with the latter’s cameras non-operational since March 13. The investigation continues in Virajpet.
