Sat Mar 29 14:54:59 UTC 2025: ## Coimbatore Police Secure Life Sentences for Rapists and Murderers; Cybercrime Arrest Made

**COIMBATORE, March 29, 2025** – The Coimbatore rural police have secured life imprisonment for two men convicted of separate rape and murder cases. Satish Kumar (35) received a life sentence and a ₹4,000 fine for the 2019 abduction, rape, and murder of a 21-year-old college student. In a separate case, Karuppaiya (25) was given a life sentence and a ₹1,500 fine for the 2021 rape and murder of a 70-year-old woman in Thadagam. Superintendent of Police K. Karthikeyan attributed the swift convictions to expedited hearings. He also stated that pending cases of crimes against women will be investigated promptly.

In a separate development, the Cyber Crime police arrested N. Ramachandran (37) from Goa for defrauding a 50-year-old Singanallur woman of ₹8.65 lakh through an online investment scam. Ramachandran, using WhatsApp, lured the victim with promises of high returns. He was arrested under Section 318 (4) of BNS and Section 66D of the IT (Amendment) Act 2008 and remanded in judicial custody.
