**Mumbai, March 29, 2025** – The Maharashtra government has implemented a new protocol to swiftly address misinformation and misleading reports concerning its operations. A government resolution issued by the General Administrative Department (GAD) mandates all departments to establish a mechanism for identifying and countering inaccurate news within 12 hours of publication.
The initiative stems from concerns that government departments were not responding quickly enough to unsubstantiated or misleading media reports. The GAD highlighted the importance of prompt responses to maintain a positive public image.
The Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR) will play a crucial role, notifying relevant departments of misleading news and subsequently disseminating departmental clarifications to the media. The aim is to ensure the public receives accurate information about government policies and plans.
