**Mumbai, India** – Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra is once again embroiled in controversy, this time for his jokes targeting industrialist Anand Mahindra and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. A recent viral clip shows Kamra mocking Mahindra’s prolific social media activity, suggesting the businessman tweets on everything except improving his own cars. He also ridiculed Mahindra’s optimism, referencing a post showing children playing during Mumbai floods.
This latest controversy follows a previous incident where Kamra’s January 3rd parody song targeting Shinde led to outrage. BJP leader Pravin Darekar filed a breach of privilege notice against Kamra, accusing him of using insulting language. The fallout resulted in Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) supporters vandalizing the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar, Mumbai, where the performance took place.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has demanded an apology from Kamra, while opposition leader Uddhav Thackeray has defended him. Kamra himself remains defiant, posting a picture of the Indian Constitution with the caption, “The only way forward…” The comedian is scheduled to appear before police on March 31st regarding the Shinde parody.
