Fri Mar 28 10:53:04 UTC 2025: ## India Launches ₹22,919 Crore Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme

**New Delhi, March 28, 2025** – The Union Cabinet has approved a new production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme aimed at boosting the domestic manufacturing of non-semiconductor electronics components, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced today. The scheme, with a total outlay of ₹22,919 crore, is designed to further accelerate India’s growth in the electronics sector, which has already seen significant expansion in recent years.

Minister Vaishnaw highlighted the impressive growth in electronics manufacturing, noting a five-fold increase in production and a six-fold increase in exports. He emphasized the scheme’s role in strengthening the entire electronics manufacturing value chain, complementing existing initiatives focused on semiconductors and finished products.

The PLI scheme will specifically target the production of crucial components such as capacitors, inductors, resistors, and connectors within India. The Minister projected that this initiative will generate 91,600 direct jobs and ₹4,56,000 crore in production value, significantly enhancing India’s value addition in the electronics sector. The move is expected to reduce India’s reliance on imports and strengthen its position in the global electronics market.
