Fri Mar 28 07:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Partial Solar Eclipse to Grace Northern Hemisphere Skies on March 29th

**Chennai, India – March 28, 2025** – A partial solar eclipse will occur on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, offering a celestial spectacle to parts of the Northern Hemisphere. The eclipse, lasting approximately four hours, will be the first solar eclipse of 2025.

While the event will be visible across a broad swathe of the globe, including eastern Canada, northern Russia, most of Europe, and parts of northeastern North America and northwest Africa, it will unfortunately not be visible in India. The eclipse’s peak visibility will be in northeastern Canada and Greenland.

In Indian Standard Time (IST), the eclipse will begin at 2:20:43 p.m., reach its peak at 4:17:27 p.m., and conclude at 4:13:45 p.m.

This celestial alignment, occurring when the Sun, Moon, and Earth align, should not be viewed directly without proper eye protection. NASA and the IMCEE strongly advise using certified eclipse glasses meeting the ISO 12312-2 international standard or employing indirect viewing methods such as pinhole projection. Failure to do so could result in serious eye damage.
