Fri Mar 28 08:53:36 UTC 2025: **Tamil Nadu 2026 Elections: Two-Horse Race Between TVK and DMK, Claims Vijay**

CHENNAI, March 28, 2025 – Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay has declared that the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will be a contest between only two forces: his TVK party and the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

Addressing the party’s first general council meeting, Vijay accused the DMK government of prioritizing one family’s interests over the needs of all Tamil Nadu families, criticizing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s governance. He alleged that the DMK is attempting to distract from critical issues, citing women’s safety as a major concern under the current administration. Vijay further asserted that the DMK’s rule must end to restore democracy in the state.

Vijay also accused the DMK of hindering TVK’s political activities, claiming the party has faced obstacles in organizing events for the past year. Despite these challenges, he expressed confidence in TVK’s ability to connect with the public and effect significant political change.

He further accused the BJP of secretly backing the DMK, cautioning the party to handle Tamil Nadu carefully. Vijay highlighted TVK’s ideology, rooted in the principles of social justice, honest administration, and equal opportunity, drawing inspiration from historical figures like Periyar, Kamarajar, Ambedkar, Velunachiyar, and Anjaalai Ammal. Significantly, TVK is the first party to formally adopt two women freedom fighters as ideological icons.
