**Denver, CO** – A new Hulu series, *Good American Family*, is sparking renewed public interest in the controversial adoption case of Natalia Grace, a Ukrainian orphan with dwarfism. The series, starring Ellen Pompeo as adoptive mother Kristine Barnett, revisits allegations that Natalia, legally declared an adult at age 8 by the Barnetts, was actually an adult posing as a child.

Natalia, born in 2003, was adopted by Kristine and Michael Barnett in 2010. In 2012, the Barnetts successfully petitioned a court to change her birth year to 1989, claiming she exhibited adult characteristics. Following this, they placed her in an apartment and moved to Canada. Natalia subsequently lived with another family who adopted her before moving again to upstate New York.

Medical records initially supported Natalia’s age as a young child, but a 2023 blood test confirmed she was approximately 22 at the time, aligning with the court’s altered birth year. Natalia states that the Barnetts ignored evidence of her true age.

The Hulu series aims to present multiple perspectives, according to actress Ellen Pompeo. The series premiered on March 19th, with new episodes airing weekly.
