Fri Mar 28 05:32:23 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Reassigns Profession Tax Collection to Commercial Taxes Department
**VISAKHAPATNAM, March 28, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh government has reassigned the collection of profession tax back to the Department of Commercial Taxes, effective April 1, 2025. This follows a government order (G.O. Ms. No. 63) issued on March 5, 2025.
The Department collected the tax from 1987 to 2012 before the responsibility was transferred to local municipal corporations. Now, all individuals engaged in professions, trades, callings, or employment within the state, as defined under the Andhra Pradesh Profession Tax Act, 1987, must pay their taxes to the Commercial Taxes Department.
Taxpayers are instructed to use the department’s website, https://www.apct.gov.in, to make payments. Contact information for the GSTOs (Goods and Services Tax Officers) in Visakhapatnam 1 and 2 Divisions has also been released to assist taxpayers with queries. The Joint Commissioner (ST), Visakhapatnam 1 & 2 Divisions, urged all taxpayers to comply with the new directive.
