Fri Mar 28 00:13:00 UTC 2025: ## BJP Protests Himachal Pradesh Government, Accuses it of “Mafia Raj”
**Shimla, Himachal Pradesh –** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a large protest rally in Shimla on March 27th, 2025, criticizing the ruling Congress government’s handling of what they claim is a widespread “mafia raj” in the state. The demonstration, dubbed a “Halla Bol” rally, took place during the ongoing budget session of the state assembly.
Led by former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and state BJP president Rajeev Bindal, hundreds of BJP workers gathered near the state assembly, shouting slogans against the government. Thakur accused the Congress government of fostering corruption and allowing various mafias to flourish in sectors including land, forest, liquor, and drugs.
The Congress party responded by dismissing the rally as a futile attempt to distract from important public issues. Naresh Chauhan, the Chief Minister’s media advisor, stated that the BJP’s actions demonstrated a preference for chaos and disruption rather than constructive engagement in the assembly session. He further countered the BJP’s accusations, claiming that the “mafia raj” thrived under the BJP’s previous rule and that the Congress government has taken strong action to curb it.
