NEW DELHI, March 28, 2025 – Twenty students from the Agricultural College and Research Institute, Keezhvelur, in Tamil Nadu, experienced a unique opportunity to witness the Lok Sabha proceedings in New Delhi on Thursday. Their visit, facilitated by the Nagapattinam district administration and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), followed their win in the district-level Youth Parliament Competition in January.
The competition, part of the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” initiative, aimed to foster democratic awareness and women empowerment. Students from the second and third years of the B.Sc. (Agri.) Hons. program, accompanied by two faculty members, were given a tour of the Parliament House, including the museum and old Parliament building. They also interacted with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Students expressed their awe and inspiration at witnessing the proceedings and interacting with national leaders. Nagapattinam MP V. Selvaraj welcomed the students and coordinated their visit to Parliament. The trip served as a rewarding experience for the students, highlighting the impact of community engagement initiatives on students’ civic awareness.
