Thu Mar 27 10:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Phillies to Begin Title Hunt on Opening Day
**Philadelphia, PA – March 25, 2025** – While the MLB season technically began last week with the Los Angeles Dodgers’ sweep of the Chicago Cubs in a two-game series in Tokyo, the traditional Opening Day festivities kick off this Thursday, March 27th. The Philadelphia Phillies, seeking their third World Series championship, will open their season on the road against the Washington Nationals.
Ace pitcher Zack Wheeler will take the mound for the Phillies, marking his second consecutive Opening Day start. Manager Rob Thomson has announced the team’s starting lineup, featuring key players like J.T. Realmuto, Kyle Schwarber, and Nick Castellanos. However, the Phillies will be without starting pitcher Ranger Suárez and outfielder Weston Wilson, both beginning the season on the injured list.
The Phillies’ home opener is scheduled for March 31st against the Colorado Rockies at Citizens Bank Park. Their first home weekend series will be against the Los Angeles Dodgers from April 4th-6th. With a strong starting rotation including Wheeler, Aaron Nola, and Zack Wheeler and a powerful lineup, the Phillies are looking to make a serious run for the World Series this year. Current World Series odds (as of March 24th) were not included in the release.
