Thu Mar 27 08:03:24 UTC 2025: **Delhi Assembly erupts in chaos over BJP MLA’s remarks and rejection of Opposition’s concerns**

NEW DELHI (March 27, 2025) – The Delhi Assembly descended into chaos this afternoon following a heated exchange between BJP MLA Parvesh Verma and AAP MLA Atishi, the Leader of the Opposition. The uproar began during Question Hour when Verma, the Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister, criticized Atishi for interrupting him while he discussed pilgrimage schemes.

Verma highlighted the zero expenditure on the previous government’s 80 crore rupee pilgrimage scheme in the 2024-2025 financial year, claiming it was purely for publicity. His comments prompted Atishi and other AAP MLAs to rise, leading to a verbal clash. Verma’s remark, “Kahan se laaye ho bhai (where did you get her from brother),” directed at AAP MLAs, was deemed unparliamentary by Atishi, although Speaker Vijender Gupta sided with Verma.

The ensuing commotion resulted in the eviction of two AAP MLAs, Vishesh Ravi and Kuldeep Kumar, by Speaker Gupta.

Earlier in the day, Atishi had written to the Speaker expressing concern over the rejection of several opposition members’ special mentions related to rising crime in Delhi, including rape and shootings. She argued that such crucial issues should be discussed in the Assembly. Atishi described the rejection as unprecedented in the Assembly’s history. Her concerns highlighted the ongoing tensions between the ruling BJP and the opposition AAP in the Delhi Assembly.
