Wed Mar 26 00:30:00 UTC 2025: **Netflix’s “The Residence” Solves White House Murder Mystery, Future Uncertain**
LOS ANGELES, CA – Netflix’s new murder mystery series, “The Residence,” has concluded its first season, revealing the killer of White House Chief Usher A.B. Wynter. The Shonda Rhimes-produced show, based on Kate Andersen Brower’s book, follows the quirky Detective Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba) and FBI Special Agent Edwin Park (Randall Park) as they navigate the labyrinthine White House to solve the crime.
The eight-episode season culminated in the shocking revelation that White House social secretary Lilly Schumacher (Molly Griggs) was responsible for Wynter’s death. Schumacher, motivated by a desire to cover up financial misconduct, poisoned Wynter and, when that failed, bludgeoned him to death with a clock. The murder weapon was later discovered hidden in a secret passageway.
The series also paid tribute to actor Andre Braugher, who was originally cast as Wynter but passed away before filming concluded. Giancarlo Esposito took over the role, and the final credits included a heartfelt dedication to Braugher.
While audiences and the show’s stars, Aduba and Park, have expressed enthusiasm for a second season, Netflix has yet to renew “The Residence.” Creator Paul William Davies, however, has already developed ideas for future storylines focusing on the dynamic between Cupp and Park, possibly even involving international investigations. Whether the White House will once again become the scene of a captivating whodunit remains to be seen. All eight episodes of Season 1 are currently streaming on Netflix.
