Tue Mar 25 11:24:14 UTC 2025: ## Another Body Found in Collapsed Telangana Tunnel; Rescue Efforts Continue

**Nagarkurnool, Telangana –** Rescue teams have recovered a second body from the collapsed Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Nagarkurnool, Telangana. The body, discovered early Tuesday morning, is trapped in a difficult position, and efforts are underway to retrieve it. This brings the total number of recovered bodies to two, out of eight workers trapped when the tunnel collapsed on February 22nd. The first body, that of Gurpreet Singh, was recovered on March 9th.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced compensation of Rs 25 lakh (approximately $300,000 USD) to the families of each deceased worker. He has also overseen a series of meetings to monitor the rescue operation, which involves over 700 personnel from 25 different agencies, including central and state government departments and private organizations.

Officials report that the rescue process has been hampered by poor air quality, low light conditions, and the challenging location of the accident site – 14 kilometers from the tunnel entrance. A 30-meter section of the tunnel has been identified as particularly hazardous. Teams are working to remove debris, dismantle parts of the tunnel boring machine (TBM), and clear soil, silt, and water from the tunnel. The Chief Minister has appointed a senior IAS officer to continuously monitor the operation.
