Mon Mar 24 08:07:29 UTC 2025: ## Uttar Pradesh Celebrates Eight Years of BJP Rule, Claims Economic Transformation

**Lucknow, March 24, 2025** – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared on Monday that the state has shed its image as an economically lagging region and is now a key driver of India’s economic growth. Addressing a press conference marking eight years of the BJP-led NDA government, Adityanath credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies for the transformation.

He highlighted the state’s agricultural resurgence, noting that the growth rate has soared from approximately 5% in 2016-17 to over 13.5% currently. This, he said, followed a ₹36,000 crore farmer loan waiver, the first decision of his government. Food grain production has also increased significantly, rising from 557 lakh metric tonnes in 2016-17 to over 668 lakh metric tonnes last year.

Adityanath contrasted this progress with the state’s previous standing as a “BIMARU” state, characterized by economic backwardness. He emphasized that the “double-engine” government (BJP rule at both state and national levels) has implemented crucial reforms leading to the state’s current economic success across multiple sectors.
