TIRUCHI, March 24, 2025 – Construction of a new ₹236 crore integrated vegetable and fruit market complex in Panjapur, Tiruchi, is set to begin in the coming months. The Tiruchi Corporation has invited tenders for the project, with a deadline of April 29th. Funding will come from Infrastructure and Amenities Funds, Capital Grant Fund 2025-26, Corporation Fund 2025-26, and approximately ₹100 crore raised through municipal bonds.
The two-story complex, to be built on 22 acres in the Green Park area, will house over 800 shops, including wholesale operations on the ground floor, and a cold storage facility. The project aims to relocate wholesale traders from Gandhi Market to this new location, situated near the integrated bus and truck terminals in Panjapur. Construction is expected to be completed within 18 months of the contract award. The project, initially proposed in 2023, faced delays due to financing challenges.
