**Hyderabad, March 24, 2025** – A food safety inspection in Hyderabad’s Khairatabad area on Friday, March 21, 2025, uncovered serious hygiene violations at several popular Mandi restaurants. Task force teams from Telangana’s Commissioner of Food Safety conducted the inspections, revealing alarming conditions across multiple establishments.
At Mandi King Royale, inspectors found malfunctioning refrigerators with food exposed to contaminated water droplets. The kitchen and wash areas were described as unclean and poorly maintained, with clogged drains, greasy chimneys, and rusty knives in use. Improper storage of raw and cooked food, including raw meat, significantly increased the risk of contamination.
Mandi Town faced similar criticisms. Inspectors discovered an extremely unhygienic refrigerator with meat waste and blood spillage. The kitchen floor was littered with food waste, lacked proper drainage, and harbored a cockroach infestation. Uncovered, unlabeled food and improperly stored raw meat were also noted, along with unclean drinking water containing dead insects. Synthetic food coloring was found and discarded.
Mandi 36 Arabian Kitchen also failed inspection. The kitchen featured patchy flooring, a sooty ceiling, greasy and dusty chimneys, and a lack of mesh filters on exhaust systems. Again, rusty knives and unclean grilling pans were in use. While food in the refrigerator was covered, it lacked labeling, and spoiled vegetables were found and disposed of. Improper food storage, including items placed directly on the ground, was also observed.
The findings highlight significant hygiene concerns at these popular restaurants. The Telangana Commissioner of Food Safety has not yet released any official statements regarding penalties or further actions.
