Mon Mar 24 10:17:10 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to Lead Delegation to Modi on Delimitation Concerns
**Chennai, March 24, 2025** – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced today that a delegation of Tamil Nadu MPs will soon meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to advocate for a fair delimitation process. The Chief Minister expressed concerns that the current proposal, based on the 2026 census, could disproportionately affect states like Tamil Nadu, potentially undermining their political representation and democratic rights.
Stalin highlighted the recent Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting in Chennai, attended by Chief Ministers and representatives from Kerala, Telangana, Punjab, Karnataka, and Odisha. The JAC resolved to push for a transparent delimitation process in consultation with states, an extension of the existing freeze on delimitation for another 25 years, and protection for states that implemented population control measures. The JAC also called for constitutional amendments and resolutions in state assemblies to support their position.
The delegation’s meeting with Prime Minister Modi will urge him to protect federalism, democratic rights, and the political representation of states. Stalin thanked all participating political parties, including the AIADMK, for their cooperation in this endeavor. He emphasized the state’s commitment to securing a fair delimitation process, reiterating the slogan, “Tamil Nadu will protest and win.”
