Sun Mar 23 12:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Orioles Pitchers Combine for Historic Spring Training No-Hitter

**BRADENTON, Fla.** – In a stunning display of pitching prowess, the Baltimore Orioles secured their first Spring Training no-hitter since 1954 on Saturday, defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-0. The feat was even more remarkable given that six Orioles pitchers – all from the team’s major league travel roster – combined to achieve the milestone.

The final out was recorded by rookie left-hander Riley Cooper, a 13th-round draft pick from LSU who was summoned from minor league camp to pitch the ninth inning. Cooper, who played alongside Pirates prospect Paul Skenes at LSU, faced the final three batters, securing the victory despite a near-miss grounder that required a slick play by second baseman Livan Soto.

The game also marked the final spring start for Skenes, who pitched 3 ⅓ scoreless innings for the Pirates earlier in the day. Cooper plans to playfully remind his former college teammate of the no-hitter.

The Orioles’ pitching performance was a collective effort, with starter Zach Eflin (three innings), Gregory Soto, Yennier Cano, Cionel Pérez, Bryan Baker, and finally Cooper each contributing a flawless inning. Manager Brandon Hyde, unaware of the no-hitter until after the seventh inning, praised the team’s performance and the experience gained by the players involved.

The no-hitter was the first in Orioles/Browns franchise history since April 11, 1951, and only the second Spring Training no-hitter recorded this year, following a combined effort by the Cubs on March 3rd. The Orioles conclude their spring training schedule on Sunday before heading to Toronto for their regular season opener against the Blue Jays. With high expectations for the season, the team is focused on achieving their ultimate goal: winning the World Series.
