Mumbai, March 24, 2025 – Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has vehemently denied claims made by BJP MP Narayan Rane alleging that Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray attempted to suppress his son Aaditya Thackeray’s involvement in the death of Disha Salian. Rane claimed to have received a call from Thackeray’s personal assistant requesting him not to mention Aaditya Thackeray’s name in connection with Salian’s 2020 death.
Raut dismissed the allegations as a smear campaign aimed at defaming the Thackeray family, stating that no such call was made. He accused the BJP of engaging in “politics of death,” exploiting the deaths of Salian and Sushant Singh Rajput for political gain. Raut further stated that he confirmed with Thackeray and his personal assistant that the alleged call never happened.
The controversy comes amidst the CBI’s closure report on the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, which cleared actor Rhea Chakraborty. Nilesh Ojha, lawyer for Salian’s father, however, noted that the court can still order further investigation. The ongoing political sparring highlights the heightened tensions between the BJP and the Shiv Sena (UBT) in Maharashtra.
