**Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, March 23, 2025** – Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, arrested for the murder of Muskan’s husband, Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput, are reportedly experiencing severe drug withdrawal symptoms while in judicial custody. The pair, who were remanded for 14 days on March 19th, are exhibiting signs of distress including sleeplessness and refusal of food and drink.

According to jail officials, Rastogi and Shukla have a history of drug and alcohol abuse, and their current symptoms are attributed to withdrawal. Senior Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma confirmed that medical attention is being provided.

Rajput was murdered on March 4th. His body, after being drugged and stabbed, was dismembered and concealed in a drum filled with cement. Rastogi and Shukla then went on vacation to Himachal Pradesh, continuing to deceive Rajput’s family via messages sent from his phone. The crime was reported on March 18th, leading to their arrest.

Police investigations revealed that Rastogi and Shukla had known each other since school and reconnected in 2019. Rastogi married Rajput in 2016, against his family’s wishes, and the couple had a six-year-old daughter. Since their incarceration, the couple has had no visitors. The case continues to unfold, with Rajput’s family previously alleging involvement of occult practices.
