**COIMBATORE, March 23, 2025** – Lulu Group International has launched a large-scale agricultural production initiative in Pollachi, Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu. The project, spanning 160 acres, aims to promote sustainable farming practices and empower local farmers.
The first phase, encompassing 50 acres in Ganapathipalayam, has already seen the planting of various crops including bananas, coconuts, drumsticks, onions, and snake gourds. Lulu Group is partnering with Farmers Producers Associations and local farmers, providing them with resources and expertise to improve their yields. The company emphasizes its commitment to organic farming methods using natural fertilizers.
Salim M.A., director of global operations at Lulu, inaugurated the project by planting saplings and distributing seeds and saplings to students at St. Mary’s School, Ganapathipalayam. The initiative also includes a fish farming component, with 5,000 fish fingerlings introduced into local waters.
Lulu’s Fair Exports division will handle the procurement, packaging, and distribution of the produce to its hypermarkets. The project signifies Lulu Group’s investment in sustainable agriculture and its commitment to supporting local communities in Tamil Nadu.
