Sun Mar 23 09:48:34 UTC 2025: ## India Slaps Anti-Dumping Duties on Five Chinese Goods

**New Delhi, March 23, 2025** – The Indian government has imposed anti-dumping duties on five Chinese products to protect domestic industries from cheap imports. The move, announced today, targets Soft Ferrite Cores, vacuum insulated flasks, aluminum foil, Trichloro Isocyanuric Acid, and Poly Vinyl Chloride Paste Resin.

These duties, ranging from a levy of up to $873 per tonne on aluminum foil to a 35% duty on Soft Ferrite Cores, will be in place for five years for most products. The duty on aluminum foil is provisional and will last six months. Additional duties have also been imposed on imports of Trichloro Isocyanuric Acid from China and Japan. The anti-dumping duties on Poly Vinyl Chloride Paste Resin also affect imports from Korea, Malaysia, Norway, Taiwan and Thailand.

The decision follows an investigation by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), the commerce ministry’s investigative arm, which determined that these goods were being exported to India at below normal prices, harming domestic producers. India justified the move under the World Trade Organization (WTO) framework, aiming to create a level playing field for Indian businesses.

This is not the first time India has taken such action against Chinese imports. The move underscores India’s ongoing concerns over its widening trade deficit with China, which reached $85 billion in 2023-24. China is India’s second-largest trading partner.
