**Los Angeles, CA** – Amanda Seyfried has opened up about her experience auditioning for the role of Glinda in the upcoming “Wicked” film adaptation, revealing a rigorous process that included singing alongside Cynthia Erivo. Speaking on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Seyfried shared that she felt incredibly prepared vocally for the audition, a significant improvement since her experience on “Les Misérables.” While she ultimately didn’t land the part, which went to Ariana Grande, Seyfried expressed relief, echoing Cynthia Erivo’s previous sentiments.

Erivo, in a November interview with The New York Times, stated her relief at Grande’s casting, adding that it wasn’t the other actresses she auditioned with that she would have wanted to win the role. Seyfried confirmed her participation in these auditions, revealing she juggled them with filming “The Dropout,” for which she later won an Emmy.

Seyfried’s comments highlight the intense competition and high stakes involved in securing a role in a major film adaptation. She acknowledged the significant vocal growth she’s experienced since her earlier work, citing her “Les Misérables” experience as a point of comparison and a source of past regret regarding her vocal capabilities at the time. Despite not getting the part, Seyfried noted that the audition process allowed her to showcase her improved vocal abilities and that she and her family now sing “Defying Gravity” daily.
