**Los Angeles, CA** – Actress Amanda Seyfried has opened up about her audition for the role of Glinda in the film adaptation of “Wicked,” revealing a rigorous preparation process and ultimately accepting that she wasn’t meant for the part. While Seyfried confirmed she gave a strong audition, even rehearsing while filming “The Dropout,” the role ultimately went to Ariana Grande.

Speaking on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Seyfried shared that scheduling conflicts with “Mamma Mia! 2” initially gave her hope of landing both roles. She described her audition as a highlight, noting she’d never felt so confident in her vocal abilities. She even had the opportunity to audition alongside Cynthia Erivo, who was cast as Elphaba.

Despite missing out, Seyfried expressed no regrets, stating, “I do think everything happens for a reason.” She praised the film’s final product, noting her children are big fans of the soundtrack, and highlighted the positive experience of singing with Erivo. Seyfried previously shared a video of herself singing “Popular” in a ball gown, clarifying that it was filmed during a Lancôme shoot during the pandemic and not part of her official audition. She emphasized that she was simply having fun and that the timing for her to secure the role wasn’t right. The actress ultimately expressed pride in her audition and satisfaction with the outcome.
