Sat Mar 22 00:50:00 UTC 2025: ## IMD Predicts Widespread Rain in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

**Hyderabad, March 22, 2025** – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast predicting widespread rain across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over the next five days. The weather system is attributed to a cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh, formed by dense cloud cover originating over China and pushed by Bay of Bengal winds across Bangladesh.

This system, coupled with a trough of low pressure extending over the region, is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds (30-40 kmph), to coastal Andhra, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep. Tamil Nadu and Kerala will also experience similar weather conditions.

While Saturday, March 22nd, will see relatively less rainfall in the morning and early afternoon, showers are expected to increase in intensity after midday, starting in Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra before spreading to Hyderabad and northern Telangana by evening. Rainfall is predicted to subside after 8 pm.

The IMD noted that while average temperatures have slightly decreased (34°C in Telangana, 33°C in Andhra Pradesh, and 37°C in Rayalaseema), humidity levels will rise significantly in the evening (70% in both states). The combination of three distinct weather systems converging is causing the unsettled weather conditions.

The department urged residents to exercise caution, advising against venturing outdoors during heavy downpours, seeking shelter away from trees and electrical lines, and avoiding walking on drains. Parents are cautioned against sending children to collect hailstones due to the risk of hearing damage from thunder. Using earplugs for children during thunderstorms is recommended. Wind speeds are expected to be relatively moderate (19 kmph in the Bay of Bengal, 12 kmph in Andhra Pradesh, and 9 kmph in Telangana), but will likely increase during periods of rainfall.
